Integration from Respect and Coexistence
The Canary Islands are one of the main gateways to Europe for migrants, many of whom are in extremely vulnerable situations. This project aims to promote their social, cultural, and community integration through mutual respect, coexistence, and close support.
In the absence of initiatives that address the cultural, religious, or community dimension, we seek to promote knowledge and understanding between cultures, prevent conflicts, and foster enriching coexistence both in shelters and in neighborhoods and urban settings.
Project Objective
Promote the community and religious integration of migrants in the Canary Islands through cultural, educational, and spiritual support that fosters respect for local realities and mutual understanding between cultures and beliefs.
What do we do?
- We identify and address the cultural, educational, and spiritual needs of migrants.
- We create spaces for intercultural and interreligious encounter and dialogue.
- We provide support in shelters, on the streets, and in prisons with a high migrant presence.
- We raise awareness in Canarian society about the value of diversity for coexistence.
How do we do it?
- We make regular visits to centers, associations, and community spaces to provide listening, guidance, and support.
- We offer street support to people outside the foster care system.
- We facilitate intercultural and interreligious encounters with the participation of migrant communities and diverse faiths..
